Rapid City, S.D.: Sudip Bhattacharya of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology was inducted into the university's Leadership Hall of Fame during a ceremony held on April 22.
Sudip Bhattacharya is a student in the materials engineering and science doctoral program from Bhilai, India. While pursuing his doctorate, Bhattacharya has also been involved in various organizations, including India Club, Cultural Expo Committee, Material Advantage Student Chapter, and International Student Inc. He has served as president of the India Club and the Cultural Expo Committee.
The School of Mines Leadership Development Team created the Hall of Fame to raise awareness about the importance of student leadership and to recognize the valuable contributions student leaders make, a media release said.
The Hall of Fame recognizes students based on their contributions to the campus community. It's not about how many leadership positions the students list on their resumes. The award recognizes students who have made a difference.
Any full-time School of Mines student in good academic and disciplinary standing is eligible for induction to the Leadership Hall of Fame. An anonymous committee of students, faculty and staff reviews applications. Up to six students are selected each year for this honor.
